The Greatest 2018 Winter to Spring Transition Dresses

By on January 18, 2018

Hey Ladies! Happy New Year BTW!!! I hope 2018 brings you joy and goal-achieving happiness! I wanted to discuss winter- spring transition dresses so that when valentines day comes around you have date night outfit ideas! Also some of y’all live in southern states and spring starts super early down here. So let’s get started!

Suede is Your New Bestie

Suede is perfect to keep you warm during windchill, but lightweight enough to not make you sweat a puddle LOL!! This light brown suede dress is from Firefly Boutique in north Charlotte!

The Little Black Dress that Could

This thin, knee length cable knit dress from Parker and Madison is perfect for chilly March nights, and those odd warm February days. It’s super comfortable too! Shoes are from Charlotte Russe, they give the outfit a pop of 90s flare ๐Ÿ™‚

Winter- Spring Transition Skirt Combo

Now I know this isn’t a dress per se, but the key to pulling off skirts in the awkward, winter/spring days is a long sleeve shirt to balance it! I paired my zip up jean skirt with a bell sleeve top from Mainstream Boutique in Charlotte!

Loving my lashes? Check out my latest blog post about how to get yours done here!

If you guys have any other ideas for winter-spring transition dresses let me know in the comment section!!

Southern Life: How to Wear Fall Clothes When it’s Still Hot Outside

By on October 1, 2017

Hola ladies! I know, I know it’s been a while! Ugh, I just was in a funk and was trying to lose weight and didn’t feel confident in myself. With that being said, I’ve cut some ties (boys), and I am feeling refreshed again, and I promise to not go missing again. ๐Ÿ™‚ Okay, let’s get into those tough, hot, fall days.

When Summer Won’t Let Fall be Great

I live in Charlotte, NC and it is still 80 degrees during the day. So, all the cute fall jackets are not an option for us ladies down south yet haha! When you’re feeling like you want to dress autumny but don’t want to suffer in the heat, I have the solution! Maxi and midi dresses will be your saving grace during this period. You can work the autumn colors (rust, maroon, forest green, navy, mustard, dark gray) and still not be sweating an insane amount.

Other Options for Hot, Fall Days

If you’re not a fan of maxi dresses, you can rock a cute, light-weight sweater with shorts and thigh high boots! This lets your body breathe, and still lets you rock those fall trends. Dresses with short lengths and long sleeves can work too! Pairing a rust orange long sleeve, short dress with some ultra cute booties will do the job as well!

If you’re looking for some chic earrings to wear with your outfits check out my most recent post here. You won’t regret it ๐Ÿ˜‰

Okay y’all that’s it! If you have some great ideas too, feel free to comment them below!

With Love,

3. Graphic One Piece Swimsuits

This trend is one of my faves! I love that one pieces are making a come back because you don’t have to show as much skin and still feel sexy! The best graphics are ones that are humorous or make you feel super girly! This cute one piece is from the Fashion Bible!

4. Pink Mirrored Sunglasses

Pink is the color of the season for me! With that being said I’ve noticed a lot of fashionistas rocking pink mirrored sunglasses, especially cat-eyed ones. I personally have many pink mirrored sunglasses this summer vacation because I am a pink fanatic! These bad boys are from Kara & Kate.

5. Summer Vacation Side Slit Maxi Dress

I just love a romper because it gives you the freedom to move around a lot, but you don’t have to worry about adjusting yourself constantly. This blue romper from Daily Chic is just too cute for words!

However, this sun dress from Chic Bon is so cute on it’s own too!

This is your go-to purse for when you’re wearing a fun print and need a purse to make a statement and have your outfits back ๐Ÿ˜‰ I’m know what you’re thinking, “Isn’t that Chloe purse like $1000 dollars?!!” Yes it is, but this is just for inspiration if you don’t want to spend that much! There are plenty of dupes out there that will be sure to complement your everyday outfits. The statement purse is the purse that you wear shopping, or out to brunch with your girls! The 5 Best Shades for Spring 2017

By on April 5, 2017

Here in Charlotte, the warm weather is coming in full force! Which means the sun is shining longer each day, being a fashionista, that means wearing my favorite shades longer! Finding a great pair of sunnies that fit you perfectly can be hard without a little inspiration. I’ve done the research for you and found the most trendy shades of the season, you’re welcome ๐Ÿ˜‰

This is not a sponsored post, all opinions are my own.

1. The Girly Girl

These pink shades are for the girly girl who loves pink, but loves to make a statement as well. Lulu’s knocked this out of the park! Love these.

2. The Diva

I am such a fan of cat eye shades, I just feel like a diva with them on! My big sister in my sorority (ASA) used to wear them all the time, just to show she was a diva. Gotta love Adri! & Unique Vintageย for creating these beauties.

3. The Flower Child

I for one always feel like I have a couple days out of the week, that I need to sport flowers. They make me feel feminine and free! This pair from Alice + Olivia may cost you a pretty penny, but you’ll be sure to stop traffic.

4. The Trendsetter

Double wire sunglasses are all the rave right now! I have a pair in rose gold that just make me feel so fashion forward. Free people sunnies are just the way to go, enough said.

5. The Basic Betty Shades

There is absolutely nothing wrong with rocking a classic pair of shades. I for one love my pair of classic shades, I can just throw them on whenever I’m looking for something simple. These circle sunglasses from H&M just slay.

How to Find the Perfect Spring Dress on a Budget

By on March 21, 2017

The first day of spring was yesterday and I’m so excited for this season! All the pastels and beautiful flowers blooming just make me feel refreshed! However, not all of us have the funds to have a shopping spree on spring dresses each year. Do not fret my fair ladies because I have cracked the code! I’ve found the cure to the low-budget, expensive taste blues! Now let’s get started…

1. Go on Pinterest for Some Spring Inspiration

Pinterest is my go to for finding inspiring looks and styles! Dedicate a few hours to finding your perfect dresses and researching which fit looks great on your body type. It’s so easy for us to love a dress on the model, and buy it and it looks COMPLETELY different on us. So disappointing. This first step is so important in buying dresses, you don’t want to go through the hassle of returns, save yourself some time and do some research.

2. Create a Budget That You Can Stick To

This is the time to genuinely be realistic about your money situation. Maybe you want 5 spring dresses, or you want to spend big on an expensive dress that you can wear many different ways. Just don’t buy a $50 dollar dress when you only have $60 in your account, you’re setting yourself up for failure. The general rule is 5% of your monthly income should go to clothing. A trick to sticking to your budget, is planning to spend more than you might actually spend. That way you are setting yourself up for success!

3. Do Your Research on Budget-Friendly Companies

Okay you’re almost there to your jaw-dropping spring dress that you didn’t have to break the bank for! You’d be surprised how many small companies have amazing prices that no one knows about! So go on Instagram and browse through companies, or look up local shops that you’ve never been to! See if you can find sales that benefit you, and use Groupon to increase your savings as well!

4. Look Over What You Already Have

It’s so easy to just take a glance at your closet and assume you have no spring dresses to wear. Make sure you look through everything and throw away, sell or donate things you don’t wear. You can even go to Plato’s Closet and sell what you don’t want, then you can get your new spring dress for even cheaper!

5. Shop Smart

Okay here comes the most fun part! Shopping! Can I get a woop woop?! LOL but seriously I love shopping. It gives me a joy that I can’t explain haha. If you are shopping online, make sure you double check for any coupons before making your final purchase. Also look over the size chart and make sure you’ll be able to fit into your new dress, and that it’s not too short or too long. Reading customer reviews can go a long way, and help you have the best chance of getting your gorgeous spring dress that fits well.

If shopping in store, you should most definitely bring a friend to help. I always find shopping at local stores are the most fun, and you can get the know the owner & creator of the clothes! They may even give you a special discount just for being you (hey, a girl can dream). Trying on dresses is so entertaining, especially when the cut is perfect and the colors complement you so well. Go to multiple stores before purchasing to make sure you don’t miss out on any dresses! Then go back to the stores that you really liked and buy your spring dress or dresses!

6. Strut Your Stuff in Your New Spring Dress

You can steal the show on Sunday brunch, and make him take a double take on a date! You can wear so many things with your dress, like a jean or leather jacket. Also, wedges, booties, and strappy shoes can complement it as well! A fresh bright face, curls or a parted afro can pull your look together beautifully!

I love shopping for spring, especially dresses because that’s what I think of when spring comes to mind. I’m sure you all are ready to begin the process of buying your next spring dress, and I’m glad I could help along the way. If you have any things that you do to save money while shopping, let me know below!

Show Stopping Fashion for the Winter Nightlife

By on January 29, 2017

Knee High Boots

Knee high boots are an integral staple of winter nightlife fashion, you can wear a short dress, or skirt and still keep your legs warm. Suede knee high boots that tie behind the knee are all the rave this winter! Leather knee high boots are also really fashionable, especially when they have a super high heel! Whether the boots be heels or flat, they are sure to be a show stopper at whatever bar, lounge or club you go to!

Wearing a long sleeve top and pants are very predictable for winter nightlife looks, how ever if you’re looking for a way to spice that up jumpsuits are a great idea! You can wear a great strappy shoe with it or some cute pumps. I love wearing booties with my all black jumpsuit, it makes it more grungy! In my opinion the best textile for a jumpsuit is knit, so that you can dress it up with a leather jacket or fur coat.

Leather Jackets

As I just mentioned in the jumpsuits, leather jackets can jazz up any outfit! I have leather jackets in brown, black and tan. Having many colors allows you to grunge up any outfit you feel needs it! The 90’s fashion is coming back full storm, and leather jackets are a great start to your 90’s fashion collection!

Saks Fifth Avenue

Fur Coats

When I think of fur coats it reminds me of Joanne the scammer and her coat LOL! Fur coats go perfect with a form fitting outfit. A body con dress, or a jumpsuit, a fur coat provides warmth and still give your outfit a high fashion look. Faux fur coats are just a perfect addition to your nightlife fashion, I prefer the blush pink coat or a natural looking brown. Also earth toned fur coats are beautiful as well.

Lulu's Fashion Lounge

I am an AVID velvet lover! I just love the look and feel of it! Velvet is great for winter nightlife fashion because it is really stylish and keeps you warm too! When you go out, you don’t want to wear your regular coat, that’s not how you stand out! Velvet long sleeve dresses are so flattering, and if you wear a matte lip with it, it will let the focal point be the velvet. When putting together outfits I always choose a focal piece and let the rest of my outfit support that. Velvet is a 90’s staple item, and as you can tell I love the 90’s look! If you have a go-to winter nightlife outfit, comment it below! ๐Ÿ™‚

With Love,
