The Greatest 2018 Winter to Spring Transition Dresses

By on January 18, 2018

Hey Ladies! Happy New Year BTW!!! I hope 2018 brings you joy and goal-achieving happiness! I wanted to discuss winter- spring transition dresses so that when valentines day comes around you have date night outfit ideas! Also some of y’all live in southern states and spring starts super early down here. So let’s get started!

Suede is Your New Bestie

Suede is perfect to keep you warm during windchill, but lightweight enough to not make you sweat a puddle LOL!! This light brown suede dress is from Firefly Boutique in north Charlotte!

The Little Black Dress that Could

This thin, knee length cable knit dress from Parker and Madison is perfect for chilly March nights, and those odd warm February days. It’s super comfortable too! Shoes are from Charlotte Russe, they give the outfit a pop of 90s flare ๐Ÿ™‚

Winter- Spring Transition Skirt Combo

Now I know this isn’t a dress per se, but the key to pulling off skirts in the awkward, winter/spring days is a long sleeve shirt to balance it! I paired my zip up jean skirt with a bell sleeve top from Mainstream Boutique in Charlotte!

Loving my lashes? Check out my latest blog post about how to get yours done here!

If you guys have any other ideas for winter-spring transition dresses let me know in the comment section!!

Show Stopping Fashion for the Winter Nightlife

By on January 29, 2017

Knee High Boots

Knee high boots are an integral staple of winter nightlife fashion, you can wear a short dress, or skirt and still keep your legs warm. Suede knee high boots that tie behind the knee are all the rave this winter! Leather knee high boots are also really fashionable, especially when they have a super high heel! Whether the boots be heels or flat, they are sure to be a show stopper at whatever bar, lounge or club you go to!

Wearing a long sleeve top and pants are very predictable for winter nightlife looks, how ever if you’re looking for a way to spice that up jumpsuits are a great idea! You can wear a great strappy shoe with it or some cute pumps. I love wearing booties with my all black jumpsuit, it makes it more grungy! In my opinion the best textile for a jumpsuit is knit, so that you can dress it up with a leather jacket or fur coat.

Leather Jackets

As I just mentioned in the jumpsuits, leather jackets can jazz up any outfit! I have leather jackets in brown, black and tan. Having many colors allows you to grunge up any outfit you feel needs it! The 90’s fashion is coming back full storm, and leather jackets are a great start to your 90’s fashion collection!

Saks Fifth Avenue

Fur Coats

When I think of fur coats it reminds me of Joanne the scammer and her coat LOL! Fur coats go perfect with a form fitting outfit. A body con dress, or a jumpsuit, a fur coat provides warmth and still give your outfit a high fashion look. Faux fur coats are just a perfect addition to your nightlife fashion, I prefer the blush pink coat or a natural looking brown. Also earth toned fur coats are beautiful as well.

Lulu's Fashion Lounge

I am an AVID velvet lover! I just love the look and feel of it! Velvet is great for winter nightlife fashion because it is really stylish and keeps you warm too! When you go out, you don’t want to wear your regular coat, that’s not how you stand out! Velvet long sleeve dresses are so flattering, and if you wear a matte lip with it, it will let the focal point be the velvet. When putting together outfits I always choose a focal piece and let the rest of my outfit support that. Velvet is a 90’s staple item, and as you can tell I love the 90’s look! If you have a go-to winter nightlife outfit, comment it below! ๐Ÿ™‚

Winter Must Have: Earth Tone Scarves

By on January 4, 2017

Good ‘ol January, after new years there isn’t too much fun that comes after in this month. However, that doesn’t apply to us fashion forward people because we have fun dressing up each day! ๐Ÿ˜‰ In the winter you are constantly wearing a coat, gloves, and a scarf. A scarf is what people see first, so it needs to be perfect.

Earth tones give you a chance to wear a lip, eye, and hair color that pops! Earth tones also give your skin a rich, warm look. The colors include olive green, tan, clay gray, maroon, brown, mustard yellow, rust, plum & navy blue. I’m always pairing my cute coats with my chunky crochet taupe colored scarf. Then I complete the look with a deep red lip color.

I recommend a blanket scarf or an infinity type scarf, they are super fashion forward. They are also very warm, and make a statement. I love the chunky knit look, but I like linen scarves too just incase you bundled up too tight, it lets you breathe.

Also you can throw on a pair of cute earmuffs to really bring the winter look together! If I go the pattern route, this season I’m attracted to plaid. It is a classic pattern, but if you choose plaid make sure it’s the ONLY pattern you have on. I don’t like when my outfit looks all over the place, a good rule of thumb is to have a focal point in your ensembles. Most people don’t like winter because they feel they can’t show of their style completely. However, if you just find great winter pieces that you can mix and match everyday, you can show of your style & be warm! Now doesn’t that sound good?

Hottest Trending Scarf: The alpaca scarf!ย If you are a luxurious type of girl, (you better work it) alpaca scarves are all the rave right now! It is similar to wool just WAY softer, they also look neater than wool. It gives you the chunky knit style, with a luxury look and feel.

Now go out and get you earth tone scarf, throw on a corresponding lip color and strut your stuff like your mama taught you! Comment below if you have a favorite winter accessory!

With Love,

Alaya Scott
