The Best Restaurant in Charlotte for Fashionistas to Meet-Up

By on June 3, 2017

So as you all know I’ve been a blogger for a total of 5 months now… woah. I feel like just yesterday I was trying to figure out my website (still am) and so nervous to begin! I was blogging alone for a few months until I discovered the amazing website called Style Collective. I cannot begin to tell you how happy I was to finally find a community of fashion bloggers that went above and beyond to help each other grow. Through joining the community, I’ve met a plethora of amazing fashionistas that I’m now great friends with. The creator of the site, Annie, launched a podcast and I volunteered to be a regional leader for Charlotte to plan the celebration event. We all worked hard to make sure all the things were in line and make sure everyone who was invited knew exactly where to go!

The Vivace Experience

Then we figured out the place that we would hold the event and I was so happy to find out that it would be at Vivace in uptown. I had never been there, but people had raved about their food before so I was pumped. When the event started they placed us outside under the string lit umbrellas in the corner! Vivace knew exactly where to place us just in case we created too much commotion. Also the skyline of Charlotte is right behind the restaurant! We took SO many photos because why not?! Needless to say, it was the perfect place for fashionistas to gather and uplift one another. Eben did a fantastic job shooting us and here some of the pictures she took so you guys can see all the fun!

Good Food Makes Us Happy

So as you can tell the food was absolutely delicious! What Chef Caputo served us was so incredible and here are the deets:

  1. Watermelon Cubes, Vin Cotto with shaved pecorino cheese
  2. Smoked Buratta, heirloom tomatoes with lemon jam
  3. Grilled Lamb Porterhouse Farro & Parsley Salad
  4. Gorgonzola BomboliniΒ

The Blogs Who Made This Event AMAZING

Here are the blogs that attended the podcast launch party:

This event was just the cherry on top of a great five months of blogging and learning as much as I can. I’ve gotten such great feedback from you ladies and I can’t wait to continue giving you your weekly dose of fashion, girly needs. Until next time my fashionistas πŸ™‚

The Reason Why Mardi Gras Changed My Life

By on March 8, 2017

My roommate was turning 26 and she invited me to go to Mardi Gras. I didn’t have much saved up, but I still went. THAT WAS THE BEST DECISION EVER. I have never had so much fun before in my life! I loved the fashion so much and I met people from all over the country. However, there is one thing that changed my perception on life completely, that I’ll dive into that in a moment.

American Horror Story Coven House

Yeah that’s right, it’s the American Horror Story Coven house! In that season they wore black every Wednesday, and it was such a statement. I am such a fan of all black looks, love the mystery of it, finish it with a nude lip and it’s a keeper. Most people wouldn’t connect American Horror Story with the fashion scene but each season has such great fashion pieces!

Beignets Are the Key to my Heart

I seriously felt like Princess Tiana when I was in the famous Cafe Du Monde. The beignets were absolutely amazing. I loved how they are crunchy at first then easily melt in your mouth. YUMMM.

Finding a Vintage Pink Store Makes Me Cry Happy Tears

While I was walking on Magazine St in the Garden District, I came across this cute vintage pink shop! It had a shabby chic sign out front with fancy in pink letters, I had to pose in front! It ended up being a cute nail salon! It was pretty warm out so I felt comfortable wearing my high waisted black shorts, cropped sweater tank, flowy white button up and fringe booties!

Mardi Gras Story Time!!!

Okay now to how New Orleans changed my life…

Chapter 1

It was the Monday before Mardi Gras and I went out with my 4 friends. I was wearing a Mardi Gras mask and a black skater dress. We went to Razoo’s and in walked a group of men, I thought one of the men was drop dead gorgeous but I was too nervous to talk to him. One of his friends asked my friend Giselle if he could buy her a drink so she walked off with him to the bar. I’m standing there alone, and decided to put my hand on the railing, his hand was there and I accidentally touched it! Talk about a cute introduction πŸ˜‰ So he offered to buy me a drink, and we talked all night and kissed goodbye.

Chapter 2

The next night on Fat Tuesday we saw each other again at Razoo’s. When he first saw me his jaw dropped, I was wearing a red strapless skater dress with a shiny silver choker. We held each other all night at the club and exchanged stories about our lives. He stopped by my hotel to say goodbye before he left for Atlanta, and he cuddled me on the couch as he massaged my feet. Needless to say, I thought I met the man of my dreams.

Chapter 3

So naturally I look him up on Facebook, and his profile picture was HIM KISSING A WOMAN in a professional christmas photo. At this point, all I see is red, but it got worse, he had two kids!!!! So I immediately think I kissed and got close to a MARRIED man πŸ™ I was furious. I am not that kind of girl. My friends all got their detective hats on and did some digging. It was confirmed that he was a father but the woman was his new gf. It completely changed my outlook on people who proclaim all this love on FB but then go to Mardi Gras and behave in that manner. I just pray that he learns to be honest & faithful. My life was changed, and I immediately blocked him πŸ™‚

If any of you ladies have dealt with a man you thought was your dream man then ended up being terrible, let me know in the comment section!

Alaya

Beyonce is Pregnant with Twins!

By on February 1, 2017

After seeing Beyonce’s Instagram post I am just in shock. In her caption she said ” We would like to share our love and happiness. We have been blessed two times over. We are incredibly grateful that our family will be growing by two, and we thank you for your well wishes. – The Carters”. Gotta love Beyonce!

So Happy for Beyonce

I am so happy for Queen Bey!!! I’ve been a huge fan since I was literally 5. I remember all the posters and I have all the CDs! So this news is so great to hear! She posted a picture of her in a flowery background with a veil covering her. Her baby bump is so adorable, and I’m sure Blue is excited to be a big sister! I hope she includes these babies in her upcoming videos too, I love seeing her children involved in her work in such a sweet way. She is such a inspiration to so many women, this is why it’s so great that she is happy, because she makes us happy all the time!

Can’t Wait for the Future

Beyonce didn’t show her belly much in her first pregnancy, so it’s so surprising that she showcased her belly this time! I’m so glad she did because now I feel like I know her better, and I feel like she truly does love her fans. I can’t wait to find out if it’s boys, girls or both! I think if I had to choose I would love for her to have a boy and a girl, so that Jay can have a son and blue can have a little sister and a little brother! But, what do I know? LOL I’m sure she will keep us updated on her journey.

It has been a crazy year for Beyonce with her controversial Super Bowl performance that I absolutely loved, her amazing world tour, she won so many awards with her album, and now this! This has definitely been the year of Bey & I couldn’t be happier! Congratulations Bey, we love you!! Here is a link to the instagram post: Beyonce’s Insta Announcement

A New Beginning

By on January 10, 2017

Hey ladies! It’s Memoir Mondays, and I have a short memoir to tell. I’m probably the most optimistic person in America but this week was an emotional roller coaster. I was so nervous to launch my blog, and I wasn’t sure if anyone would like it. However, I knew that this was my calling and I’m so happy I made the plunge!

The Best Day of the Week:

Thursday! I went on a date with a great man and the night before I went on a date with another great guy! I love getting to know people and both guys were so sweet and chivalrous. I feel like I’m the bachelorette and I have to give my rose to a final man LOL, but as my mom says: “As long as you aren’t exclusive to anyone, you can go on as many dates as you like!” This day was also great because I launched my blog! I had so much fun sharing my articles with friends and family, & getting know bloggers!

That wraps up the memoirs for this week! As always I can’t wait to see what this week brings! I hope you all had a great Monday!

With Love,

Alaya
