My roommate was turning 26 and she invited me to go to Mardi Gras. I didn’t have much saved up, but I still went. THAT WAS THE BEST DECISION EVER. I have never had so much fun before in my life! I loved the fashion so much and I met people from all over the country. However, there is one thing that changed my perception on life completely, that I’ll dive into that in a moment.
American Horror Story Coven House
Yeah that’s right, it’s the American Horror Story Coven house! In that season they wore black every Wednesday, and it was such a statement. I am such a fan of all black looks, love the mystery of it, finish it with a nude lip and it’s a keeper. Most people wouldn’t connect American Horror Story with the fashion scene but each season has such great fashion pieces!
Beignets Are the Key to my Heart
I seriously felt like Princess Tiana when I was in the famous Cafe Du Monde. The beignets were absolutely amazing. I loved how they are crunchy at first then easily melt in your mouth. YUMMM.
Finding a Vintage Pink Store Makes Me Cry Happy Tears
While I was walking on Magazine St in the Garden District, I came across this cute vintage pink shop! It had a shabby chic sign out front with fancy in pink letters, I had to pose in front! It ended up being a cute nail salon! It was pretty warm out so I felt comfortable wearing my high waisted black shorts, cropped sweater tank, flowy white button up and fringe booties!
Mardi Gras Story Time!!!
Okay now to how New Orleans changed my life…
It was the Monday before Mardi Gras and I went out with my 4 friends. I was wearing a Mardi Gras mask and a black skater dress. We went to Razoo’s and in walked a group of men, I thought one of the men was drop dead gorgeous but I was too nervous to talk to him. One of his friends asked my friend Giselle if he could buy her a drink so she walked off with him to the bar. I’m standing there alone, and decided to put my hand on the railing, his hand was there and I accidentally touched it! Talk about a cute introduction 😉 So he offered to buy me a drink, and we talked all night and kissed goodbye.
The next night on Fat Tuesday we saw each other again at Razoo’s. When he first saw me his jaw dropped, I was wearing a red strapless skater dress with a shiny silver choker. We held each other all night at the club and exchanged stories about our lives. He stopped by my hotel to say goodbye before he left for Atlanta, and he cuddled me on the couch as he massaged my feet. Needless to say, I thought I met the man of my dreams.
So naturally I look him up on Facebook, and his profile picture was HIM KISSING A WOMAN in a professional christmas photo. At this point, all I see is red, but it got worse, he had two kids!!!! So I immediately think I kissed and got close to a MARRIED man 🙁 I was furious. I am not that kind of girl. My friends all got their detective hats on and did some digging. It was confirmed that he was a father but the woman was his new gf. It completely changed my outlook on people who proclaim all this love on FB but then go to Mardi Gras and behave in that manner. I just pray that he learns to be honest & faithful. My life was changed, and I immediately blocked him 🙂
If any of you ladies have dealt with a man you thought was your dream man then ended up being terrible, let me know in the comment section!
